We're back!

Well we are back in Shanghai. So far we(I) have been up for 32 hours. Madeleine is wired from a 2-1/2 hour nap on the last flight so it will be a while before I sleep. We decided to stay in a hotel the first night here, the Hilton Shanghai, so we could get room service and milk without going to the grocery store. We have just consumed one hamburger, one toasted ham and cheese, and one margarita pizza!! YUM!! Good Night Shanghai!!

Headed back to Shanghai

In the next couple weeks we will be headed back to Shanghai for 5 weeks. We will be staying at the same apartments as last visit only we have a larger unit this time. In exchange for the larger unit we had to give up our 10th floor view - oh well. Now that we know the ropes hopefully we can get into the routine of things a little more quickly. It won't take us a week to find the grocery store (to our standards) and 4 weeks to find where the other expats eat.

I don't know that we will spend so much time travelling this time but we are planning at least one weekend in either Hong Kong or Taipei. we may also take a train ride to one of the neighboring cities over the weekends.

It will be interesting to celebrate Halloween there this year. I have been in China before on Halloween and remember that the celebration was equal to St Patrick's Day in the US with limited decorations and private parties. We have found a couple US and European schools that will have carnivals so we are taking Madeleine's costume with us.
